Bottom LineĪt $154.99 (opens in new tab), the ToughRAM RGB Metallic Gold DDR4-3600 C18 is undeniably one of the more expensive DDR4-3600 memory kits on the market. The memory kit's other primary timings simply wouldn't cooperate. For example, we increased the DRAM voltage on the ToughRAM RGB from 1.35V to 1.45V and could only tweak the CAS Latency (CL) to 16 cycles. Hynix ICs aren't known for running at tight timings, and that showed in our tests. Besides they only work on my watercooler fans, RGB Fusion thinks the case fans are just regular LED strips so I can't even try to put fan effects on those). Why are my options "solid color" or "rainbow" with everything in between either being horrible (like black with occasional colored flashes) or simply not functional (multi-fan effects are broken because I didn't mount and connect my fans in a non-documented arbitrary order and orientation, no way to change that through software. That fading between 2 colors, I wish that was an option for my other RGB hardware. I didn't realize it supported it because at first only my keyboard showed up in iCUE. Edit: turns out this was iCUE taking over. AURA isn't even installed anymore because it being installed makes RGB fusion not detect my RAM (even if AURA isn't actually doing anything with the RAM). Now it's in some fading mode going between orange and white and I cannot change that. It overrides my (Asus AURA) video card lighting, despite not supporting it. This makes changing anything an extra big pain in the ass because it requires a reboot because someone decided to actively block minimizing the app (not even Windows can minimize it with the taskbar, it just stays open). The problem is that the program cannot be minimized, the only way to get it in the system tray is rebooting your computer. The program needs to be left open or minimized to system tray to work with the cooler for temp display. Sometimes it does RGB rainbow, sometimes it does the solid colors I set it to, sometimes it just does half-half (at the moment one of my sticks works as I set it up, the other is all off with a single green LED). It can't decide whether it supports my RAM. I don't really care all that much about the RGB (it's just a thing you can't really avoid these days), but RGB Fusion 2.0 is so broken it's unusable. I recently got a Gigabyte motherboard and cooler with all the RGB stuff.
